6th World Summit on Arts and Culture
The 6th World Summit on Arts and Culture was jointly hosted by the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) and the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CNCA), the Chilean Government’s entity in charge of implementing public policies for cultural development. The theme for the 6th World Summit was Creative Times: new models for cultural development. The summit addressed how globalisation, shifts in social and economic development and new forms of communication are generating an array of challenges and opportunities within the cultural field, with an impact transcending the artistic realm.

The World Summit is the most important and longest running international gathering of professionals and practitioners involved in cultural policy and arts funding. Held for the first time in Latin America, the 6th World Summit offered a strategic opportunity to:

• bring together key decision-makers and actors from the region who are involved in the challenges of funding the arts and supporting the development of the creative industries and the cultural development of communities; and
• profile and promote to the world, the developments, initiatives and achievements in arts and culture of the Latin American region.

IFACCA’s World Summit on Arts and Culture
The World Summit on Arts and Culture is an event held every two or three years, and is the only international event of its kind in the arts and culture policy field. World Summits provide a unique platform for national arts councils, ministries of culture and other agencies active in the global arts and culture sector to:

•discuss and exchange experiences and ideas about key issues affecting public support for the arts and creativity
• engage in insightful, stimulating debate and discussions among policy makers within the context of contemporary global and national challenges;
• challenge or affirm current practices by benchmarking good practice;
• create networking opportunities to build relationships and potential partnerships; and
• develop the networking, organisational and advocacy objectives and interests of IFACCA and its members.
