National Council for Culture and the Arts (CNCA)
Established in 2003, the CNCA is the Chilean Government’s entity in charge of implementing public policies for cultural development. Its mission is to promote harmonic, pluralist and equitable cultural development among the inhabitants of the country by fostering and promoting national arts and cultural heritage, and by undertaking public initiatives that encourage the active participation of citizens in the achievement of these goals.
The main authority is the Minister President of the CNCA, who is also part of the Presidential Cabinet. The CNCA has a National Board comprising representatives from a diverse range of areas of the Chilean civil society, which promotes the plurality in decision making and policy development.
